Our "ferry"

We spent last weekend by taking a 2 1/2 hour ferry ride to Yoron Island. When I say ferry ride, I thought it was more of a "freighter" ride, but then again it was my first time doing anything like this. I guess I imagined a boat similar to the ones used to go to Catalina Island, with seats, a snack bar, etc. This boat was mainly for shipping cargo, but they had a floor of futons that you could lie on. No restuarant, snack bar, or chairs!!!
Yoron is a small island, not really known for anything other than the beautiful Pricia Resort where we stayed. We really enjoyed the resort. It had a beautiful beach, pool, and all sorts of activities you could discover. Because we weren't staying long, we didn't have time to take advantage of much, other than taking a glass-bottom boat ride out to a sand bar to hunt for hoshizuna, or star-shaped sand. Hoshizuna is not actually sand, but the remains of tiny sea animals.
All-in-all we had a great time, but we were glad to come home to our American style furnishings and soft, cushy bed.
