Free Wheelin’

The biggest news around our house these days is that Rio is riding his bike with no training wheels!  Yes, you read that right.  The same kid who turned 3 just 3 months ago is now riding like a big boy!

It was just last April when he started with training wheels.

And, as of December 29, 2011, he is officially riding free!

He is so proud of himself!  He has told everyone he sees that he is officially riding his purple bike.  We’ve gotten more than a few strange looks as he talks about his purple bike, but he loves it.  Hopefully he won’t hate me later for making him ride his sister’s hand-me-down.  Luckily, he doesn’t know that the name of the bike is actually “Sparkles!”  : )

I am amazed that the kid picked it up in 2 days!  He’s had a scoot bike since his 2nd birthday and I can’t sing its praise enough.  It’s literally a bike without pedals that he has to kick off and balance to ride. 

Once he mastered it, off came the training wheels and he literally “got it” the first day!  He’s so confident that he’s already moved on to off-roading!  I love it!!
