Ravyn's Thomas birthday party

Sunday we celebrated Ravyn's birthday by having a Thomas the Tank Engine birthday party at our neighborhood park. I tried for a Princess or Dora party, but Ravyn only wanted Thomas and I had no good reason to say no. We invited all of Ravyn's classmates along with the neighborhood kids and had a pretty good turn out. Of course the kids loved the bouncer and pinata, which was something new to most of her Japanese friends.

Ravyn had a good time herself, but she was definitely overwhelmed. This was the first year she could actually understand what a birthday was, but didn't quite know how to handle everything. She opened her first present and it was two Thomas the Train Lego sets. Instead of being excited and wondering what the other presents held, she nearly lost her mind that she even had to open other presents. In her mind, she had already gotten the prize!! True to Ravyn she continues to live against the grain, never following what "the experts" say she should. Until next year...
