When we arrived, this is what we saw. The streets were already filled with people and all of them were holding plastic bags. I figured it must mean that all of the floats would throw a lot of candy. Wrong again.
It turns out, the parade is something like Mardi Gras. All of the floats had a party on board and everyone was throwing beads!!
Ravyn enjoyed receiving beads, but had a difficult time that she didn't get some from EVERY float. Because she's Ravyn and everyone is drawn to her she got a lot more than some of the other kids, but she just didn't understand the whole concept. It was such a build up to scream and catch beads when the float was passing by that in between each float she would scream and cry until the next one came. Next year I know she will be able to fully understand everything and I will know exactly what to expect. Here's her booty.
To our surprise the parade was also incredibly long! We actually left and went to the bathroom while it continued and then decided to call it a night before it was over. It was THAT long!
As we were packing up everything to go, we weren't paying attention to the beads being thrown and this is what happened!! The beads landed right on Rio's face! Thankfully, he stayed asleep and the picture is priceless. What a memory!
