Wednesday was a busy day with the County Fair, but we decided to have a picnic at the beach for dinner. I packed up some sandwiches, veggies, fruit, and dessert in my own bento style. In traditional Japanese bento making, a bento should contain all of the food groups, but also be appealing to the eyes. Having 2/3 of a box full of PB&J sandwiches is not that appealing, but I did try to keep it as colorful as possible. Ahem...it has been a while since I've made a bento, so we'll say this is a starting point to grow from. : )

The containers are a set that I bought in Okinawa and I LOVE. It has 3 compartments to hold whatever you would like, but then has a lid that holds plates to eat off of. Aside from being great for the environment with almost no trash, it conveniently turns into this for easy transportation.

After eating, it was time for fun. Ravyn enjoyed playing with her new boogie board that Grammie and Papa Doug got her,
while I had to keep Rio from crawling into the water over his head. Rio is definitely my water baby!
