Butterfly House

Friday, Ravyn's class took a field trip to our local Panhandle Butterfly House. Because we came from Okinawa where they also have a butterfly park, I thought it would be similar. Sadly, it was about 1/10th the size and there were virtually no butterflies, none of which would land on you like in Okinawa. Aside from that, Friday also turned out to be the coldest day we've had since we moved here, so the kids were freezing!
Our first stop on the field trip was a nature walk around the facility. It was so cold!

Then it was inside to see the butterflies. Below is the only one I saw!!!
And after that, it was on to learning about the life cycle.
Of course, Rio didn't see why he couldn't make himself right at home.

I suggest that you volunteer to work at the butterfly house. The lady in the photo doesn't look very happy working with the children. Maybe you could bring some of the great ideas from the Okinawa butterfly enclosure and a bit of enthusiasm to the PBH!! Rio is a sweetheart. Both Rio and Ravyn love being center stage!!
