Today, we had to rush through breakfast in order to drop the kids off at the kids club and meet up with the rest of the passengers going on the Buck Island Snorkel Tour with us.
Once everyone had arrived, we debarked the ship and took a short walk to our catamaran, Castaway Girl 2, that would take us out to the island.
Here is Buck Island off in the distance. On our way out we also got to see St. Croix and Tortuga from afar.
They gave a short lesson to all of us on board, some of who had never snorkeled, and then handed out our gear and pushed us overboard. Okay, maybe they didn’t push us overboard, but Jamie and I were 2 of the first people to jump off and get things started.
We saw lots of fish, but nothing near those we were used to in Okinawa.
There was also coral and very poisonous black spiny sea urchins,
a lion fish?, or a puffer fish?,
a shipwreck, or rather a Nay ship that was wrecked in a hurricane and towed to the island,
and even a barracuda!
With all of our morning fun, we worked up an appetite and walked back to the ship to grab everyone and go to lunch in town.
I wish I could say I had wonderful pictures of lunch and the rest of the island, except that we wound up waiting 2 hours for some mediocre sushi and didn’t have any time left to explore before the ship’s evening, “All aboard” call.
Oh well, nothing an amazing towel lobster couldn’t fix!
