After St. Thomas, we had one day at sea as we were making our way to Castaway Cay. And, lucky for us, it started with the Character Breakfast!
Being that it was a special day, the kids indulged.
Just look at what Rio was able to get his hands on!
And by the looks of it, Ravyn enjoyed some to. You can see the evidence in her photo of the napkin hat our server made. Ravyn got a Minnie Mouse bow
and Rio, a Peter Pan hat.
If that wasn’t enough excitement already, the characters came around to all of the tables to say hello.
There was Pluto,
Minnie,
Goofy,
and, of course, Mickey!!
Looking back on the pictures it looks like I was more excited than the kids to see everyone! On second thought, I was more excited than them because I didn’t have to wait in line fighting masses of other people all in the efforts to get 2 seconds with these characters. I actually relaxed, ate breakfast and waited for them to come to us. It was heaven!
With our bellies full, it was back to the room to change into our swim suits. And even more goodies!
After a quick dip we raced over to try our luck in the Mickey 200 for a second time. We thought “Super Ninja Tater Mobile” would be unstoppable!
But the competition was tough.
And Ravyn wound up picking up the pieces, literally.
From there we sped over to the airplane making class where we learned how to make, well, paper airplanes.
At the end, all of the kids lined up
and tested their new aircraft.
Having raced and soared all morning, it was time for a snack. Ratatouille Cooking School was our next stop.
Chef Remy led us all on a chocolate chip cookie making adventure.
The kids loved it when he would yell, “Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate” and they replied, “Chip, chip, chip!
You would think with the busy day we’d had that everyone would go back to the room for a little rest, but that was not the case. Instead, we left Ravyn at the kids club to practice for “Friendship Rocks,” a show put on by all of the kids who participated in the kids club programs.
Just before showtime, we received a text message on our ship cell phone inviting us to the performance. We had no idea what to expect.
It began with all of the kids parading into the auditorium and up onto the stage. It was very exciting that they were on the very same stage that we had been watching the Broadway-style shows on all week!
It’s a little hard to see Ravyn in the middle.
Oh wait, there she is waving back at me!
All of the kids sang and danced and they showed a beautiful slide show of photos taken in the kids clubs. It warmed my heart to see a picture of Ravyn and a friend pass by on the screen.
And, of, course, no show is complete without an appearance from the world’s cutest couple themselves, Mickey and Minnie!
With all of the craziness of the day, we played hooky from our semi-formal dinner night and found ourselves in the arcade!
The kids had the place to themselves!
And Ravyn won her first prize from “The Claw.” It only took her two tries to win “Fishy”! She was so excited it was nearly bursting out of her!
I think Grandpa may have some stiff competition. He is the only one I have ever known to be good at that game and Ravyn seemed to know exactly what she was doing.
It was definitely a long day and we new we had to get some rest before our next stop at Castaway Cay.
A blanket peacock was just the thing to tuck us into bed that night!
