As the year comes to end, it's only appropriate to bring things full circle. Last year, at this time, I started this blog as a labor of love to keep family informed of everything. Today, it's no longer labor, rather pure enjoyment. Quite a few of you check it daily, and some hourly (ha,ha), and I love hearing what you think of everything. I'll keep the postings coming as long as you keep the comments.
The Children's Zoo Christmas Fantasy has become an annual event for us. What could be more fun than being able to play in the snow in a place where it doesn't snow? This year was especially fun because Ravyn is finally old enough to really participate. She was excited even before we got there because we had to get bussed in. Ravyn loves "school" buses!!! Once in the gate we went straight to the snow, but they had changed things this year and it was more like being herded like cows through snow, than enjoying it. I was able to get a good picture though.

After a ride on Ravyn's favorite train, she got to take her first pony ride. If you look closely, it looks more like a donkey, but it's actually a horse from a small island north of Okinawa. She loved riding the horse so much that she didn't want to get off. A hug and a kiss later we pried her away.

It was onto the games! Mom (I) played darts, while Dad tried to get Ravyn to bowl, but she went straight to bin full of presents. 300Yen, about $3.50 with the weak dollar, gets you any present your heart desires. I'm sure the sign probably says that one of the boxes contains something really great, but ours only had a dollar store toy.

And finally, we rounded out the night with the traditional Japanese laser and light show. Before you watch this video, be forewarned that it could likely cause an epileptic seizure, but it's something we've come to know and love here in Japan.

What a great celebration. Looks like wonderful fun and a real uplifting event. They sure have a handle on how to make things fun.
