My Okinawan Kids

These two pictures are of Ravyn and Rio in traditional Okinawan outfits. Ravyn is wearing a Ryukyu kimono (Okinawa was once an independent kingdom) and Rio is wearing a Eisa costume (a traditional Okinawan folk dance.)


Here is Rio with his Okuizome sign. Okuizome celebrates the 100th day since a baby's birth. *There will be more about this in the next few weeks.* The large characters, in the middle, are his name in Japanese.




And here's a few more. The first is of Rio with the Japanese kabuto. The kabuto is part of the armour traditionally worn by Japanese samurai. It symbolizes a strong baby boy. Next is Rio, no frills. And lastly, one of Ravyn at the same age.
