Yoshihachi's

It's been a while since my last post, but not because we haven't done anything. With my new dSLR camera I figured I should get a good photo editing program, but so far it's created nothing but headaches!!

Last weekend we went to a local restaurant named, Yoshihachi's. It is probably the most famous restaurant in Okinawa with everyone from Bill Clinton to Tiger Woods visiting. How do I know this? Because every wall on the inside is covered with pictures of Yoshihachi and his famous customers!!

We like the restaurant because it has a HUGE menu, so we can order something different every time. This time we had edamame, buttered asparagus, teriyaki hamachi (yellowtail) roll, tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a sushi tempura roll.
Having lived in Okinawa almost three years now we knew what everything was except the sushi tempura roll. Somehow Japanese menus always translate the name of the item but not the description. Sometimes you're pleasantly surprised and sometimes you're horribly disappointed. Unfortunatley, this time was the latter. While we thought sushi tempura was sushi wrapped tempura, it was actually sushi fried like tempura! Not on my list of favorites.
