This past weekend we kept to our word and ventured out again, this time to Four Seasons for lunch and Nakagusuku Castle.
Four Seasons is a local teppanyaki restaurant with good food and LOTS of it. You could say it's similar to Benihana's, but there is no show. Teppanyaki is just a style of Japanese cooking that can be found almost everywhere.

Once our bellies were full, we went to the castle ruins to work some of it off. And boy was it a workout. The steps were incredibly steep and I had the added worry of Rio in a sling on my front making it impossible to see my feet!! The hard work was definitely worth it!!! The view was spectacular! Obviously, it wasn't the best weather that day, but it was still breathtaking. The ocean view is looking out into the Pacific Ocean...home sweet home California. As you can see Rio also enjoyed himself when we took a break to stop and feed him. No he still isn't crawling but loves being on all fours. He's able to scoot himself around by getting up on his knees then diving onto his belly over and over!
The castle itself is quite amazing. It was actually built in the 15th century using no mortar and cement. Why can't we build a hurricane proof house in the US while Okinawa is able to build structures that can survive the Category IV typhoon we had last year much less this castle that's been around 500 years?!!!
