Here on Okinawa we have have our own little piece of heaven known as Quickly. After Googling it, I learned that it is one of the world's largest tapioca milk franchises, but that does not describe what it is here on Okinawa. Here, it is basically a slushy stand only they add huge tapioca balls to the top.
Like any other Japanese eatery there are always plastic models of everything you can order. For three years I have always ordered the passion fruit with tapioca. Passion fruit was a safe, sweet treat. The other day I decided to go on a whim and get what I have always been eyeing, the "3-color" shake. The 3-color shake is beautiful, but when I asked what flavors it was I was surprised to hear melon, yogurt, and rose hip. Obviously, that is why I had stayed clear of it for so long. Oh well, it was bottoms up. I couldn't tell anyone it was gross if I didn't try it, right?
Much to my surprise, it was delicious!!!! So delicious I have been back way too many times than I'm willing to admit and enough to have already earned my free drink on the stamp card.
I'll add this to the list of things I'll miss about Okinawa.
